Analyze Your Needs

Take the time to analyze your needs

Do you dream of a big house by a lake? Is this really the property that meets your needs? Sometimes you have to know the difference between the house of your dreams and the one that really suits you. Before you start your research, take some time to think.

Your needs

Each family has its own needs and priorities. How many bedrooms and bathrooms do you need? Is a dining room really necessary? And the garage, will it become another storage space?

Your taste

Consider your tastes. If you're not a handyman, avoid homes that need major renovations. Love at first sight for a large lot? Remember that you will need to maintain it. If you prefer urban life to get closer to services, theaters and trendy restaurants, expect to live in a noisier and less green environment. In short, set your priorities!

What is your budget?

Don't make the mistake of buying a house that is beyond your means. To find the property that's right for you, adjust your needs to your budget. Once you become a homeowner, your investment will grow in value and allow you to later opt for a property closer to your ideal. Initially, remember especially to make reserves for the expenses relating to the purchase and the unforeseen ones. This is without counting maintenance, insurance and repairs, the annual fees of which are generally 2% or 3% of the price of the house.

Your environment

Your environment is also an important factor. Is there a daycare or school nearby? Will your children be able to use public transit or will you have to drive them? Also consider the distance between you and work.
